"life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. so love the people who treat you right, forget about the ones who don't and believe that everything happens for a reason. if you get a chance, take it, and if it changes your life, let it. nobody said it would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it"

if today was your last day

I just heard a really good song- not a Christian song, but still a great message.  It's by Nickelback.

Here's part of it:
My best friend gave me the best advice
He said each day's a gift and not a given right
Leave no stone unturned, leave your fears behind
And try to take the path less traveled by
That first step you take is the longest stride

If today was your last day and tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last
Leave old pictures in the past?
Donate every dime you had, if today was your last day?
What if, what if, if today was your last day?

I think about that a lot... what if today is my last day?  People always say you need to live your life to the fullest, but how many of us actually do?  How many of us actually go and smell the roses?  I think that I do, and then I remember all of those times that I just slack off all day, just sitting on the computer or watching TV.  I know I could be petting my cat, or going outside to water the plants, or take a nice long walk... but I don't.  We all usually don't.  I mean, yeah... we know that we could be doing something more productive, but we think: "Oh... I can just do that tomorrow.  I have plenty of time."  What if there is no tomorrow?  (sorry about the 1. down there... it won't go away lol)
  1. Sometimes I wish I had a happier life, and I complain because "Oh no, my life sucks.  Everything is going wrong, why am I such a loser?  If only this... if only that..."  I think that I actually will go out and smell the roses, today.  Maybe you should too- I dare ya!

what really "grinds my gears"

Haha, I just love that!  "What really grinds my gears."  Ha!

OK, so anyways... something that has always bothered me is when people wear clothing with brand-names on it!  I mean, you're paying the company to advertise their products!  Ha!  It just doesn't make any sense to me- why?  Yes, a lot of times the clothes are really cute so that's why you want to wear them... but really!  :]]  That would sorta be like wearing a huge sign that says, "Hey!  Come to such and such store!"  Well... sorta.  :]  It's kind of different if you're wearing a school/college sweatshirt or t-shirt.  You're showing school spirit!  But you still are saying (without really saying), "Hey, I go to this school!  It's great!  Check it out!"
Hmmm... but maybe it's not really trying to "advertise" the product... maybe it's kind of like showing off.  Saying, "I have the money to shop at this store!" or, "I'm gonna wear these clothes so that I'll fit in better and maybe people will like me more."  I don't know.  I've never worn clothing with brands on it, so I don't know exactly why people do it.  Maybe just because it looks cute?  Comment and let me know if you have a few shirts that say Hollister, Aero, A&F, etc...

que sera, sera

The other day my Grandma Barb was watching a TV show on PBS that had a bunch of people who were famous "back in the day" come perform.  There was one song that I really liked though... I couldn't stop thinking about it.  It's called, "Que Sera, Sera" by Doris Day.  "Que sera, sera" is Spanish for, "Whatever will be, will be."  I just couldn't help but feel attracted to that song!  The chorus goes, "Que sera, sera/ Whatever will be, will be/ The future's not ours, to see/ Que sera, sera/ What will be, will be."
I was thinking about those lyrics, and it's 100% true!  A lot of times, we try to plan ahead.  Here's an example:  You have a huge crush on this guy/girl- you've liked him/her for over a year.  You used to be friends with him/her, but then stopped talking to each other at all.  So you think, "It'll never work out.  He/She'll never talk to me, and qll of my dreams will be shattered."   So you pretty much give up.  But if you two are meant to be, then it's going to work out in the end.  Maybe you'll be paired up with him/her in a  Counselor program for a camp- you'll see each other every day for a whole summer... a whole lotta bonding time, right?  You'll fall for each other, and then on your/her 21st birthday, you'll/he'll propose. Que sera, sera!
OK, so that was just an example- that probably won't be your exact story... but you get the point.  If God has planned something to happen, then it will happen.  That doesn't mean that we can just sit around the house eating chips and watching TV all day expecting the right guy to stop by your house and propose.  You still have to put a little effort into things!  But if you do your part, God's plan is coming alive!
